Proposed Criteria for Selecting Pilot Sites


Philippine Setting


The MIU has been working closely with Dr. Gilbert Par from the Center for Health Development (CHD) Region 4A.

Below are some criteria they have set with CHD IV-A in the area of choosing a good pilot for a CHITS implementation.

1. Municipal Health Officer (MHO) willing to undertake the program
2. Sanggunian Bayan (SB - local government council) informed and allows pilot
3. Mayor informed and allows pilot
4. Orientation given to Mayor and SB
5. Computer present in Rural Health Unit (RHU)
6. Telephone line (optional but preferred)
7. Local Government Unit (LGU)/RHU willing to commit a tech support person for troubleshooting
8. Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between LGU and UP Manila

Other Settings


1. Head of local government committed to undertake funding and administrative support of the program
2. Local health authorities (in local government) actively involved in adoption, planning and implementation of program
3. CHITS orientation given to local administrative and health authorities
4. ICT infrastructure present in health centers and district health offices (minimum CHITS requirement is a local area network)
5. Optional but recommended: Telephone line or better
6. Optional but recommended: communication with developer group and UP Medical Informatics Unit
7. Trainors in local language available to deliver CHITS Training Program.
